Group of adults holding large display check made out to Fruitland Park Elementary from Bless Fruitland Park for $17,624

Bless Fruitland Park presented Fruitland Park Elementary School with a check for more than $17,000 as part of its annual Project Generosity.

"In communities, the local school is not only the center of activity but also a great opportunity, and we believe that 'so goes the school, so goes the community,' "  the organization stated in a recent press release. "With those thoughts in mind, we have asked the question, 'How does a community partner together and network valuable resources to support its local school?' It is this question that has prompted the Bless Fruitland Park team to host a fall campaign involving our community to help support our local school."

Bless Fruitland Park set a goal of $15,000 and invited individuals, churches, business and local civic and social clubs to participate by donating, organizing fundraisers, and spreading the word. They surpassed the goal and presented the $17,624 check to the school on August 26. The funds will be used by school leaders to address immediate needs that are not covered by the school budget.

"When I heard that the goal was $15,000 I was so incredibly grateful," Fruitland Park Elementary School Principal Susan Jordan said as she thanked all who supported the effort. "That was such an ambitious goal, and how that you've exceeded it, that just says something very powerful about this community. It says that our community believes in our kids. … Thanks for investing in our children."

Over the past nine years, Bless Fruitland Park has raised more than $170,000  for Fruitland Park Elementary School.

Bless Fruitland Park is an ongoing effort of individuals, churches, businesses, and local civic and social groups in the Fruitland Park area that are "committed to working together to make a difference and create an atmosphere of partnership and generosity within the Fruitland Park community."
